Box measurements always correspond to the inner dimensions of the box. This is done to ensure a snug and protective fit around your item(s).
Boxes are measured according to their inside dimensions. That means that if a box is 16” x 12” x 12", you are able to fit an item that is 16" x 12" x 12" inside that box.

Shipping and moving boxes are made of a paper material called "corrugated" or "corrugated paper". A cross section of some corrugated is shown.
